Headache and sensory processing
Chronic headache and migraine
Recurring headaches and migraine can substantially affect daily life, work, and recovery. Biofeedback and neurofeedback may train selected aspects of self-regulation alongside medical care.
- Chronic Headaches & Migraine
More than one type of headache
Migraine may involve pulsating pain, nausea, sensitivity to light or sound, and sometimes aura. Tension headache and other recurring headache types have different features and require appropriate classification.
Frequency, duration, possible triggers, medication, and associated symptoms help clarify the pattern. A headache diary can record this information over several weeks.
Medical assessment and warning signs
A new, unusually severe, or clearly changed headache requires medical assessment. This is especially important with neurological symptoms, fever, altered consciousness, or after an injury.
Neurofeedback and biofeedback do not diagnose headache disorders. They are planned after appropriate assessment and with current treatment in mind.
What biofeedback and neurofeedback may train
For some headache types, biofeedback can provide feedback on muscle tension, skin temperature, breathing, or heart rate variability. Neurofeedback addresses selected EEG activity. Not every method fits every headache type.
- Record personal triggers and early signs
- Observe muscle tension and physical activation
- Practise regulation between attacks
- Monitor progress and medication use
Assessing results over time
Goals may include fewer headache days, less disruption, or a better response to early signs. Change is assessed over a sufficient period. Evidence differs by headache type and method.
Discuss your headache pattern
Bring any available findings and, if possible, a headache diary. We can review which complementary training approaches may be suitable.
