Burnout results from chronic overload of the nervous system: the autonomic nervous system remains in a permanent state of alarm ("sympathetic overactivation"), so recovery phases no longer take effect. Over time, this measurably alters brainwave activity – particularly in areas responsible for stress regulation and energy management.

Neurofeedback specifically trains the brain to break out of the exhaustion pattern and shift back into a regulated, energy-efficient state.
